Bulk Foods Stocking Customer Service Part Time

Job Posting: 08/22/2017 Job ID: 1706621 Location: Columbia, MD Address: Columbia, 8855 MCGaw Road Age Requirement: Must be 18 years or older. Days Hours Req: Part-time employees may work up to 30 hours/week, with shifts ranging between 4 and 8 hours at a time based on department needs. Weekly hours and specific shifts are not guaranteed and we do not offer set schedules. The most successful applicants offer an availability spanning several hours at a time, on multiple days/week. The most successful candidates will be available starting at or before 8am and until at least 7pm, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and an additional day per week. Year-round employment only. Schedule: Part-time

What is my job:

Our Bulk Foods department provides customers with a wide variety of items from whole grain and healthy ingredients to sweet treats like chocolate and candy. In this department, you’ll ensure all of these items and more are available for purchase throughout the day, while providing incredible service to our customers!

How do I make a difference?

 Providing Incredible, Knowledge  Based Customer Service

  • Proactively approach customers, help them locate products, educate them on the proper use of equipment and answer any questions they may have
  • Maintain the overall appearance and functionality of the department by ensuring bins are refilled and display tables are well-merchandised to drive sales and promote seasonal products
  • Ensuring High Quality Products & Ingredients
  • Unload deliveries and work independently handling a variety of tasks and prioritizing responsibilities
  • Ensure customers are using gloves or scoops when taking products from bins and are not freely sampling loose candy
  • Follow Wegmans recipe to make and package homemade peanut butter
  • Properly handle products, use equipment, keep accurate logs and follow sanitation practices in accordance with food and human safety guidelines and Simplification 5S procedures

What skills, learnings, and experiences are preferred and will set me apart? 

  • Customer service experience, preferably in a food service, grocery or retail setting

Work environment:

  • Work involves continuous interactions with customers in a fast-paced environment
  • Typical motions include repetitive hand and arm movements, frequent lifting
  • Responsible for moving and lifting an average of 8 – 32 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 50 pounds occasionally
  • May be exposed to various allergens
  • Must be able to use hand/power equipment
  • Will spend the majority of time on his or her feet and stand without a break for up to 4 hours
