The Denver, Colorado office is seeking an entry level engineer to work as part of a team on civil, geotechnical, geological and mining related engineering projects. The employee may participate in subsurface site characterization involving drilling, soil classification, rock coring; well installation and sampling; construction quality assurance; computer modeling; preparation of calculations and reports; and other activities. The position requires domestic and international travel and field work as dictated by project demands.
Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
* Scope, budget, execute, and interpret subsurface explorations, with senior technical advice and review;
* Prepare project health and safety plans;
* Interpret geotechnical field and laboratory test data to evaluate material properties such as strength, permeability, and compressibility;
* Prepare geotechnical data reports;
* Perform engineering analysis, such as slope stability, seepage analysis, hydrology/channel sizing, settlement evaluations, etc.
* Prepare geotechnical recommendations reports with advice and review from senior technical practitioners;
* Develop grading plans and designs in AutoCAD Civil 3D;
* Perform construction quality assurance for geosynthetics or earthworks on large civil or mining projects;
* Assist with writing reports, cost estimating, specifications, and permit documents with senior technical advice and review.
Job Requirements:
Qualified candidates will possess the following skills and attributes:
* Master's degree (preferred) in civil, geotechnical, geological, or mining engineering with an emphasis in geotechnical engineering with minimal experience in the civil, geological, mining or environmental engineering field. Golder will also consider bachelors degree and Ph.D candidates, if education and/or graduate research aligns with our business needs.
* Experience and proficiency with AutoCAD preferred
* FE/EIT registration preferred
* Eligible for employment status in the U.S.
* Ability to travel internationally
* Valid driver's license
* Professional work experience
* Interact well with the public
* Excellent teamwork skills
* Pass a pre-employment physical including drug screen and background check.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills combined with leadership ability and a positive attitude and ability to work both independently and within groups.
