Job Description

The McGinley lab at Baylor College of Medicine is looking for a highly motivated, hard-working, curious, and intelligent individual to become a key member of our research team

The McGinley lab in the Neuroscience Department at Baylor College of Medicine and Duncan Neurological Research Institute studies the role of neuromodulatory brain state in cognitive functions including learning, attention, and navigation in virtual reality. We are looking for a highly motivated and intelligent individual to play a central role in the execution of our team-based research projects. The individual would help coordinate the running of animal behavior and physiology experiments, and help support the core functioning of the lab. Salary would be competitive and commensurate to experience level.

* Set up, run, and maintain lab for daily experiments
* Work with mice and troubleshoot experimental setup
* Examine daily health of mice
* Transport animals to and from the mouse colony
* Assist with data processing for analysis pipeline
* Help with colony management as needed
* Weaning, ear punching, and breeding
* Record keeping
* Help ensure quality control of undergraduate students running experiments
* Report progress and issues on experiments to senior lab members
* Help senior lab members supervise undergraduate students on proper lab techniques and projects
* Participate in weekly lab meetings and journal clubs
* Communicate experiment progress to PI
* Coordinate with members of lab on upcoming experiments and progress
* Familiarity with or desire to learn/use programming tools such as Python, MATLAB, and LabVIEW is desirable, but not necessary


* Associate's degree in a basic science or work experience.
* One year of related experience
