Job Description

SUMMER INTERNSHIPS 2020 - Houston Ballet is offering various exciting unpaid internships to both undergraduates and graduate students over the course of the summer (starting Tuesday, June 16th - July 25th, 2020). These internships are a great opportunity to gain valuable experience in working in the fields of art, dance, and non-profit organization. Interns will be able to assist and learn within a specific department and witness the day-to-day activities that make the Houston Ballet a world-class ballet company. All internships are unpaid and offer flexible hours to accommodate school or work schedules.

Available Internships for Summer 2020:

PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT

Summary:

Houston Ballet offers exciting internship opportunities to both undergraduate and graduate students throughout the year on an ongoing basis. The Production Intern will have the opportunity to gain experience in many aspects of Houston Ballet's Production department. The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Production team and every effort is made to assist the intern in building strong professional skills. All internships are unpaid and offer flexible hours to accommodate school or work schedules.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

* An organized and enthusiastic person studying any major related to the internship of the applicants interest.
* Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, acute attention to detail and the ability to work independently are required.

Duties:

* Assist Houston Ballet Academy staff with production related requests
* Run Houston Ballet Academy performances at the Houston Ballet Center for Dance and in other venues as needed
* Assist Houston Ballet Stage Managers with maintenance of rehearsal studios
* Complete audio / video requests as needed
* Assist in archiving Houston Ballet related production files
* Other job duties as assigned.

IT DEPARTMENT

Summary:

The IT Intern will have the opportunity to gain experience in many aspects of Houston Ballet's IT department. The intern will work under the direct supervision of the IT Team and every effort is made to assist the intern in building strong professional skills. All internships are unpaid and offer flexible hours to accommodate school or work schedules.

* An organized and enthusiastic person studying any major related to the internship of the applicants interest.
* Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, acute attention to detail and the ability to work independently are required.

DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT

Summary:

Houston Ballet offers exciting internship opportunities to both undergraduate and graduate students throughout the year on an ongoing basis. The Development Intern position provides general office support to the Development Department. Every effort is made to assist the intern in building strong office and fundraising skills. All internships are unpaid and offer flexible hours to accommodate school or work schedules.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

* An organized and enthusiastic person studying any major related to the internship of the applicant's interest.
* Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
* Acute attention to detail.
* The ability to work independently.
* Graphic design experience preferred but not required.



Duties

* Assist in creating a development department operation manual.
* Assist in donor stewardship, including thanking donors for support.
* Support stewardship and special events teams during event seasons.
* Organization and filing of digital and hard copy documents, as needed.
* General office assistance, upon request.
