Job Description: Weekly Hours: 40 Shift: 2nd Status: Full Time Baptist Health is looking for an energetic & qualified candidate to join our family as a Pharmacy Technician. Job Summary: Assists pharmacists in filling and preparation of inpatient medication orders and outpatient prescriptions. Delivers medication to patient care areas, and posts charges/credits for medication. Orders products from pharmacy wholesaler if assigned by Pharmacy Manager. Assists with training of new technicians as assigned by Pharmacy Manager. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job. He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time. 1. Unit dose cart fills/checks, AcuDose restock, unit dose prepackaging, and Robot packaging are completed accurately. 2 Performs medication inquiries on patient medication profiles in response to questions 3 Preforms simple nonsterile compounding in accordance with USP <795> 4 Fills prescription within State and Federal laws for checking by a pharmacist. 5 Prescriptions priced according to hospital policy. 6 Labels prepared are neat and accurate. 7 Is familiar with abbreviations used in the hospital and list of unapproved abbreviations. 8 Is familiar with the drug formulary maintained by the pharmacy. 9 Orders medication for outpatient prescriptions if out of stock. 10 Medication deliveries are accurate (delivery to correct unit), completed in a timely manner, and delivery runs start at the scheduled time. 11 Packages and labels all medications per department guidelines. 12 Makes sterile compounded medication deliveries. 13 Performs necessary calculations accurately. 14 Maintains and manages Robot inventory 15 Ensures smooth work flow in work area and that all assigned tasks are completed at the end of shift. All identified problems, if they cannot be corrected by the employee, will be reported to the Technician Supervisor, Pharmacy Manager or the Pharmacist-in-charge promptly. 16 Completes monthly unit inspections and other projects as assigned by the Director, Pharmacy Manager, or Technician Supervisor. Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required: A. High School diploma or equivalent preferred. B. Must be knowledgeable of medications (dosage forms, brand and generic names). C. Six months pharmacy technician experience is required. D. Required Kentucky Board of Pharmacy registration certificate for Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern. (Within 30 days of hire date if you are a new registrant. If previously registered you must have registration upon hire) E. Required certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ICPT).
