Job Description

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is offering a Summer Internship to a qualified candidate who will support the Information Technology - Audio/Visual team. This paid internship is a full-time, temporary employment opportunity averaging 40 hours per week for a postgraduate student. PCORI does not provide housing for out of town residents. All applicants must be eligible to work in the US. Interested parties may apply for internships in multiple departments; please include a specific cover letter for each position.

Pay Range and Employment Status:

Interns shall be classified as temporary employees who are hired as interim replacements, to temporarily supplement the workforce, or to assist in the completion of a specific project and who are temporarily scheduled to work for a limited duration. Employment beyond any initially stated period does not in any way imply a change in employment status. Temporary workers are not eligible for PCORI benefits.

Current undergraduate students will be paid $15 .00 per hour.

The Audio-Visual Services intern's primary work will be to assist the IT department with developing content (graphics, video, animations, informational charts) for PCORI's digital signage to improve organizational communication, dashboards, and employee engagement. The work would be showcased on reception/lobby displays, cafe areas, and conference signage. The intern would also be responsible for requirements analysis and documentation, troubleshooting and maintaining digital signage hardware, collaborating with various teams and levels of staff, and identifying areas of success and improvement. The role will require a high-level of presentation skills, data analysis, multi-tasking and project management to support their duties.

The intern will also develop their knowledge of conference technology, customer service, and end-user training as part of the AV team. Daily duties include responding to user requests through a ticketing system, checking conference room equipment during morning or evening sweeps, providing tier 1 AV support for presentations, webinars/online meetings, coordinating with users, testing/troubleshooting our conference scheduling system, and maintaining related AV hardware such as microphones, amplifiers, room computers, and teleconference capabilities. Technical training will be provided according to the intern's level of experience with AV services. Other administrative duties or project support may be required.

Required Skills

The Audio/Visual Team is seeking an intern that will meet the following requirements:

Any interest in Audio-Visual, Information Technology, Communications, or other related multimedia or technical fields through clubs, extracurriculars, or as a hobby.

This role requires the intern to have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be detail-oriented, possess great interpersonal skills, be customer-focused, have an aptitude for technology and learning, can multi-task, and have experience using Microsoft Office applications (primarily PowerPoint, Word, and Excel).

Previous experience with the below is preferred but not necessary for this internship (some training will be provided):

* Conference/event/room scheduling software
* Presentation software
* Image/graphic editing programs
* Skype
* Skype for Business
* Office 365/SharePoint/Outlook
* Windows 10 / Windows 7
* Webinar platforms such as GoToMeeting, GoToWebinar, Cisco WebEx, Adobe Connect, or other applications
* Video editing or recording software such as Windows Movie Maker, iMovie, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premier
* Training software/tools
* Public speaking
* Data analysis or metrics
* Storyboarding
* Project management or task management tools

Required Experience

Ideal candidates will be pursuing their undergraduate education in one of the following areas: information technology, communications, broadcast, art/graphic design or related technical/media discipline.

Applications for the PCORI Summer Internship Program will be accepted up to 8:00pm EST on Thursday, March 13. Applicants who are chosen will be phone screened by PCORI Human Resources. In person interviews at PCORI with relevant intern supervisors will take place from April 1 - April 17.
