Job Description

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is offering a Summer Internship to a qualified candidate who will support the Science Operations team. This paid Internship is a full-time, temporary employment opportunity averaging 40 hours per week for a postgraduate student. PCORI does not provide housing for out of town residents. All applicants must be eligible to work in the US. Interested parties may apply for internships in multiple departments; please include a specific cover letter for each position.

Pay Range and Employment Status:

Interns shall be classified as temporary employees who are hired as interim replacements, to temporarily supplement the workforce, or to assist in the completion of a specific project and who are temporarily scheduled to work for a limited duration. Employment beyond any initially stated period does not in any way imply a change in employment status. Temporary workers are not eligible for PCORI benefits.

Current master's level and above students will be paid $20 .00 per hour.

The Science Operations Team is seeking an intern to assist with ongoing work to identify opportunities for analysis and process improvement in the department and organization. This work includes work cross-departmentally (Finance, Contracts Management, Science) on research/analytical projects.

The work will entail:

* Working with PCORI staff on high level internal analytical projects involving analyzing research projects from an operations perspective (reviewing project summaries and other select internal data)
* Creating data visualizations when appropriate
* Working cross departmentally to visualize and document processes
* Projects with Finance and Contracts Administration (e.g., terminated projects, projects requiring remediation)
* Other duties as required

Required Skills

The Science Operations team is seeking an intern that will meet the following requirements:

A promising Graduate student or advanced degree holder in a field related to Public Policy, Data Science, Business, Economics, Health Services Research and other allied fields (e.g., public health).

* Interest healthcare systems research, evaluation, data analysis, and/or health policy.
* Interest in project management
* Familiarity with data analysis (coursework and/or professional experience)
* Proficiency in writing (submit writing sample)
* Basic understanding of public health and research
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
* Attention to detail

Desired but not required: Tableau, Adobe Illustrator, research experience in Public Health or other scientific field.

Required Experience

Ideal candidates will be pursuing their postgraduate education in one of the following areas: business, health care administration, communications, data analytics, data science and visualization, or related field.

Applications for the PCORI Summer Internship Program will be accepted up to 8:00pm EST on Thursday, March 13. Applicants who are chosen will be phone screened by PCORI Human Resources. In person interviews at PCORI with relevant intern supervisors will take place from April 1 - April 17.
