Job Description

Join bluebird bio's enthusiastic and collaborative team by contributing to the overall success of our novel gene therapy approach at our new facility in North Carolina's Research Triangle. We seek a highly-motivated and organized individual with experience working in a manufacturing intern role supporting a GMP biotech/pharmaceutical operation to help build and grow our vector manufacturing organization. You will be responsible for providing technical operation support to the manufacture of a gene therapy product.

About the Role:

* Provides technical support for the manufacture of a gene therapy product. Troubleshoots process or equipment related issues and develops sound engineering solutions to address identified problems.
* Develops and executes engineering test protocols on process equipment as needed.
* Writes/revises standard operating procedures (SOPs), training documents (OJTs) and batch records (BPRs).
* Implements continuous improvement projects to improve yield, reliability, and/or process robustness.
* Coordinates activities to support manufacturing (i.e. raw materials, cGMP cleaning and gowning, and BPR issuance) as needed.
* Ensures manufacturing goals are achieved through robust safety practices and quality compliance.
* Provide on the floor support during manufacturing operations.

About You:

* 1+ years towards bachelor's degree in science, engineering preferred.
* Experience with MS Word and MS Excel.
* Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential in this collaborative work environment.
* Driven and self-motivated.
* Agility to quickly adjust and navigate shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
* Comfortable in a fast-paced small company environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities.
