Department Summary:

The Graduate & Postdoctoral Scholars Office (GPSO) is part of the Learning & Career Development unit in the Education division. The mission of GPSO is to develop and provide high-quality career and professional development resources for graduate students and postdoctoral researchers in chemistry that enables a well-rounded, inclusive, and satisfied global workforce, as well as to facilitate community building between graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and those that foster their professional development.

Position Summary:

As part of a fun GPSO core team, the Intern will be assisting with the new ACS Bridge and Genentech collaboration to plan, recruit for, and organize projects such as the ACS Career Kick-Starter Workshop at Genentech, the ACS Graduate School & Professional Development Boot camp; and the Online Learning Community. Anticipated outcomes of the internship include gaining and/or improving skills in the areas of data management and analysis, time management, editorial processes, organization, customer service, and event logistics. The intern will also have the opportunity to expand their network, and/or learn how to do so, as they communicate with faculty, volunteers, staff, and ACS members.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Support promotional and editorial activities, along with day-to-day office operations of the Graduate & Postdoctoral Scholars Office
* Assist with updating and maintaining web pages
* Communicate with GPSO and ACS Bridge customers through social media and other electronic avenues
* Assist with data entry, survey collections and analysis
* Tracking and filing financial data, event logistics, report writing/editing, and general office documents

Required Qualifications:

* Familiar with the use of Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) as well as Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop.
* Good communication skills
* An interest in communicating through electronic media, and contributing to and/or editing/reviewing written materials.
* Good interpersonal skills
* Willingness to be a team player

Education Requirements:

The ideal candidate will be going into their senior year of college, pursuing a degree in Chemistry, STEM, or Social Sciences.
