Job Description

Department Summary:

The primary activity of the Office of Research Grants is responsibility for all aspects of the Petroleum Research Fund (PRF) Grant Program. This Program awards about 200 research grants per year with a value of ca. $20 Million. The grants are awarded to new investigators and to established investigators wishing to take their research in a substantially new direction. Separate categories are provided for institutions with doctoral programs and PUIs.

Position Summary:

The PRF is celebrating a milestone event of 65 years of giving grants in 2020. Several events are being planned. One such activity is a collection of comments from previous grantees on how PRF has impacted their programs/careers. The plan is to gather this information for posting on social media and on a website. Staff would assist with the solicitation of the information with the intern's responsibility being collecting, reviewing, organizing and posting comments over the summer in preparation for the celebration event at the ACS Fall National meeting. As this will be PRF's first utilization of social media, working with ACS staff beyond PRF will be involved to accomplish implementation.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Handle all aspects except solicitation of collecting and disseminating past grantee comments on impact of PRF to their careers.
* Assist with collecting historical information relevant to the celebration and preparing program materials for the Symposium and Technical session associated with the celebration. The project has the finite time line of completion before the ACS Fall 2020 meeting

Education Requirements:

The ideal candidate will be going into their junior year of college, pursuing a degree in Chemistry or Communications.

Required Qualifications:

* Good communication skills
* Experience with social media and creating web postings
