Job Description

Job Description Summary

The Engineering Intern will be directed by the Project Engineering Manager. The intern will assist in a variety of assigned tasks including but not limited to supporting the current plant capital project program, initiating and supporting continuous improvement efforts, gathering and analyzing data, and assisting in investigating and solving plant reliability issues. This position will also work with the Maintenance group and assist them with plant projects.

The paid internship will last for 10-12 weeks, beginning in May and ending in August (actual dates may vary depending on the student's academic calendar). Individual intern projects will be assigned and a final presentation made at the conclusion of the internship. Relocation assistance is available to those who qualify. Our desire is that the internship will be the starting point for a full-time career with Lamb Weston.

Job Description

* Works with the plant project engineer to complete capital projects
* Assists in the making, revising, and maintaining of plant drawings using AutoCad, SolidWorks, or similar software.
* Performs analyses to develop design options and cost impacts
* Works with maintenance supervisors on plant issues
* Investigates reliability issues and assists in the analysis to determine the root cause and the solution to the root cause
* Performs other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

* Completion of a minimum of 2 years of engineering curriculum toward a Bachelor of Science degree at an accredited college/university
* Mechanical and Electrical engineering are preferred
* Previous intern experience or similar work experience preferred
* Involvement in research groups/projects outside of required classes preferred
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously adhering to set deadlines
* Must have strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work hands on individually as well as with others as a team
* Ability to follow direction as assigned by plant leadership
* Must have strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude
* Ability to work safely and follow all plant safety policies and procedures
