Job Description

Thunderbird Challenge Program located in Pryor, OK is now hiring:

Full Time Cadet Team Leaders (Platoon Sergeant) - Starting salary $28,000 plus full state benefits
Temporary Cadet Team Leaders - Maximum 29 hours per week at $13.46 per hour

Thunderbird Challenge has been reclaiming the lives of Oklahoma's at-risk youth for 26 years. Over 4,900 youth have graduated the program with improved values, life skills, education and self-discipline to succeed as productive citizens in their communities.

Thunderbird needs mature individuals looking for an opportunity to make a difference every day in a young person's life. Team Leaders utilize positive leadership, understanding and integrity to motivate and supervise cadets. Team Leaders supervise cadet's daily activities and train them in group living, personal hygiene, physical fitness, leadership/followership and community service.

•Military experience preferred, but not required. Non-military applicants must be willing to learn knowledge of military structure and procedures (marching, drill & ceremony, PT, customs and courtesies)

•Ability to obtain a CDL with passenger endorsement required to transport cadets to activities.

•Ability to work shift work, nights and weekends (facility open 24 hours, 7 days a week)

•Physical Requirements: Requires long periods of standing or walking indoors and outdoors throughout the day; work in both high and low temperatures; climb stairs; do pushups, side straddle hops, sit-ups and other fitness activities; ability to run a mile and walk extended distances; ability to drive or ride in a van or bus for extended distances.

Full Time Benefits: This is a full-time unclassified state position with full state retirement and insurance benefits, including health, dental, life, and disability insurance for the employee. The employee receives a benefit allowance to assist with insurance costs. Annual leave of 10 hours per month and sick leave of 10 hours per month begin accruing immediately. Annual longevity pay starts at 2 years of employment.
