Farallon Consulting, L.L.C. has an opening for an experienced full-time Staff Level Geologist or Environmental Scientist in its Seattle, Washington office.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Staff Level Geologist provides assistance to technical staff and project managers with investigation and remediation projects. The tasks may include assessment, monitoring and closure needs. Coordinates and/or performs field work at project sites, sampling of soil and groundwater and provides data and/or documentation for reports.

Requirements and Qualifications

* Minimum 1 -3 years of experience in field or hands on internship
* MS in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science or BS/BA in Geology or Environmental Science.
* Available for typical business day work hours of 8AM to 5PM Monday through Friday (40-hour work week) with flexibility for earlier starting times and later ending times, as well as occasional overnight shifts as necessitated by project-specific requirements.
* Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
* Computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on MS Word and MS Excel. Ability to learn basic accounting software.
* Demonstrated skills in clear and professional written and verbal communication.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
* Strong organizational and time management skills.
* Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
* Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as a well as accept direction on given assignments.
* Demonstrates ability to follow detailed instructions.

Responsibilities

* Perform routine fieldwork assignments including but not limited to drilling borings/monitoring wells, soil sampling, groundwater sampling, aquifer testing, remedial technology pilot tests, excavation of test pits, soil vapor surveys, monitoring well elevation surveys, and other assignments with minimal to no supervision in field.
* Must be able to assertively direct others in the field such as subcontracted drillers, excavation contractors, utility locators, and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.
* Familiarity with appropriate state regulatory programs including appropriate health and safety regulations at level required to perform typical field and office tasks.
* Must be able to wear respiratory protection, and pass baseline physical for job position.
* Assist technical staff and project managers with assessment and monitoring activities for remediation projects.
* May assist with work plan preparation.
* Assist with the coordination of field work permitting.
* Coordinate and/or conduct investigations and related sampling procedures.
* Documents investigation and assessment activities.
* Compiles data for various regulatory and other reports.
* Conduct all activities in compliance with company and industry health and safety policies and practices.
* Ability/willingness to travel distances to work site.
* Ability to complete physical field work in an outdoor environment
* Works on special projects as required.

Safety:

* The candidate must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
* The candidate must be able to perform a wide range of physical activities including sustained walking, standing, reaching.
* 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training HAZWOPER (29 CFR 1910.120) desired but will train if applicant has not completed.
* Basic First Aid and Adult CPR desired.
