Job Description

What Your Job Will Be Like

We are currently hiring R&D Graduate Interns to join our TITANS: Math & Analytics team for Summer 2020! Qualified candidates will be part of a larger family of intern institutes, namely Technical Internships To Advance National Security (TITANS) focused solely on Cybersecurity, Software and Math and Analytics.

TITANS Math and Analytics is seeking students who want to have a career using their math and analytics skills. We are focused on developing the next generation of experts in the math and analytics for national security applications. Skills used in the internship are math, analytics and data science, including machine learning and artificial intelligence, but work is almost always dedicated to applied research and development in one or more of Sandia's many mission areas. An R&D mentality, strong computer science skills, and proficiency in at least one programming language will ensure success in this internship.

Qualifications We Require

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

* Earned bachelor's degree
* Currently attending and enrolled full time (or scheduled to graduate in the spring) in an accredited science, engineering, or math graduate program
* Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
* Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer
* U.S. citizenship

Note: If you have not yet started your graduate program, please apply to an undergraduate intern position

Qualifications We Desire

* GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale
* Working knowledge and understanding of an engineering or science-related field, such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other relevant STEM disciplines
* R&D experience including project work, technical presentations and/or publication

About Our Team

Sandia's Technical Internships To Advance National Security (TITANS) intern institutes are seeking outstanding graduate students to work on vibrant, motivated teams. Interns perform work as an entry to mid-level member of the workforce within a science and engineering environment, engaging in R&D assignments which focus on applying computer science, computer engineering, or cybersecurity skills to solve complex challenges. Based on your skills and experience, your role may include anything from research to software development to malware reverse engineering.

Security Clearance

This position does not currently require a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance.

Sandia will conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Furthermore, employees in New Mexico need to pass a U.S. Air Force background screen for access to Kirtland Air Force Base. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause access to be denied or terminated, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.

If hired without a clearance and it subsequently becomes necessary to obtain and maintain one for the position, or you bid on positions that require a clearance, a pre-processing background review may be conducted prior to a required federal background investigation. Applicants for a DOE security clearance need to be U.S. citizens. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

EEO

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
