Responsibilities

The intern will be assigned to support various projects and testing support needs in the Celanese New Product Development Team.

The intern will support:

* The development of material solutions for mechanical, thermal, and other properties critical to the customer
* Working closely with development, commercial, and manufacturing teams to accelerate scaleup and commercialization
* Benchmarking competitive products to understand value vs competition
* Developing new products for engineering thermoplastics and collaborate with cross-functional teams to commercialize these products.
* Using a variety of sources and ideation techniques to develop new technology concepts that enable new product properties as well as applications
* Equipment or Method implementation/development/optimization
* Hands-on testing support
* Creation of technical reports based on data generated and possible presentation of same in appropriate forum

Qualifications

* Working towards Bachelors in chemistry, chemical engineering, material science, or polymer science (or related fields). Must be graduating Dec. 2020 or May 2021
* Must be able to work in the U.S. with no restriction
* Excellent presentation and communication skills
* Works well in team environment and possess the interpersonal and communication skills needed to work effectively in cross-functional teams
* Works safely in the laboratory and plant setting
* Technical writing skills
* Courage to work independently (with appropriate mentorship) to realize benefits
* Preferred background in polymer structure-property relationships and polymer blends
* Preferred working knowledge of analytical characterization techniques for rheological, mechanical and, thermal properties of polymers
* Preferred working knowledge of polymer processes including compounding with twin screw extruders and injection molding.
