Job Description

Job Title: HR Generalist

Reports to: Sr. HR Director

FLSA Status: Exempt

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30a - 5:30p; flexibility required

Purpose: The HR Generalist position provides support essential to the daily operation of Epworth's Human Resources function. Duties of this role will include hiring and interviewing, employee relations, enforcing company policies and practices and general HR duties and functions.

This position demonstrates commitment to the mission, vision and values of Epworth by engaging in respectful, cooperative relationships with customers (i.e. clients, employees and external stakeholders); being accountable for providing services and ensuring safety to customers while empowering customers in achieving Epworth's mission.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following: (Other duties as assigned.)

* Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings. Completion of employment verifications using online system.
* Coordinates completion of new employee, temp, contract and intern onboarding procedures.
* Processes character reference checks on employment candidates.
* Compile and track data for New Hire/90-day surveys.
* Completes exit interviews and tracks data.
* Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation,; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
* Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
* Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
* Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
* Performs various other duties as assigned.
* May assist with Agency and staff events and serve on committees and task forces as deemed appropriate.
* Distributes and track employee performance evaluations agency wide.
* Develops cooperative internal customer relationships and implement strong customer service skills to support the Agency's mission; respond to communications and employee requests/issues in a timely manner.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of professional HR experience required in a Human Resources function. Experience with recruitment desired. Strong computer skills including Excel and database management needed.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals or government regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and public groups. Effective written and oral communication skills

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions, learning agility

Computer Skills: E-mail, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, database management.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively. The physical requirements of this job includes: sitting, standing, walking and climbing stairs on a regular basis; lifting up to 25lbs, pulling and/or pushing on occasion.

Work Environment: Most of the work for this position is performed under normal office conditions. The employee may need to travel between multi-site locations and job fairs as a function of this role.
