THIS POSTING IS FOR CONSIDERATION AS A HS TEACHER (including Intervention Specialist) AT THE CALIFORNIA VIRTUAL ACADEMIES, FOR POSITIONS THAT MAY ARISE DURING THE 2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR. ABOUT THE CALIFORNIA VIRTUAL ACADEMIES AND THE HS TEACHER POSITIONS: The California Virtual Academies (a network of 9 public charter schools) delivers online/virtual home based instruction to TK-12 students in California. We use the K12, inc. curriculum as the basis for instruction and teachers provide live instruction via the Blackboard platform. While our schools do offer some scheduling flexibility, students are still required to log attendance, attend instructional sessions, and complete their coursework daily. HS teachers meet with content students throughout the week in their virtual classrooms to provide direct and targeted instruction that meets the needs of the students and support their homeroom students as needed. Each homeroom has about 35 students. We do our best to assign homeroom students locally as teachers will be required to plan and attend at least one in person orientation and outing per semester. They also provide students additional help, individualized instruction, grade work, have daily communication & conferences with students, learning coach & families via telephone & email, attend virtual all-staff & department meetings, in-person professional development, and monitor attendance. High School teachers may meet with their students face to face for tutoring and at other in person opportunities. All teachers are required to proctor state testing.

HOURS AND SALARY INFORMATION: Part time teachers work Monday-Friday from 9:00am-2:30pm (A part time high school teacher will have a reduced homeroom and content caseload) Full time teachers work Monday-Friday from 8:30am-4:00pm You are not allowed to have another job during contracted hours.
