About This Role:

The Web Developer Intern works with team members from across the organization on a variety of projects touching web display, mobile, content management, search engine, and data analytics systems. This candidate must be able to contribute to the definition of requirements, work closely with the architect to define the solution, and be involved in all phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC).

Responsibilities

* Collaborate with team members from all across the company to design and deliver innovative solutions for a variety of corporate initiatives.
* Present solution details to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
* Take ownership of code throughout the development life cycle (development, testing, deployment, maintenance).
* Balance project work with routine system maintenance activities (bug fixes, application troubleshooting, on-call responsibilities).
* Be familiar with tools supporting the entire DevOps life cycle.

Qualifications

* Experience in developing Java-based applications using Spring, servlets, JDBC, web services, caching strategies, and JPA.
* A strong understanding of object-oriented analysis and design and the practical application of design patterns.
* Knowledge of relational database systems; Oracle experience is a plus.
* Experience deploying Tomcat, JBoss, or similar in a Linux environment.
* A focus on testing and quality with JUnit or other testing frameworks.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on documentation.
* Motivated by working in a highly collaborative development environment.
* Commitment to quality and the role of testing in software development.
