Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The position will be responsible for the care and feeding for 500 birds in the Project House at least five days per week. This includes hand collecting and weighing eggs. Transporting the eggs to Big Red breaking facility. Pulling manure twice a week. And general cleaning of the project house.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Feed and care for ca. 500 birds at least five days per week
* collect and weigh eggs and transport to Big Red breaking facility
* Keep bird facility clean
* Ensure biosecurity is maintained
* Inform supervisor when supplies are needed
* Adhere to all safety policies and procedures
* To follow proper SOP's (Standard Operation Procedures)
* Collect samples in poultry houses as necessary
* Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP's, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
* Able to work weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE REQUIRED:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

* Ability to work with chickens in a humane manner
* Must be able to work in a farm environment.
* Able to climb and work on ladder.
* Ability to repeatedly follow written/verbal instructions/procedures precisely with great attention to detail.
* Must be able to follow proper biosecurity principles which may include showering at work
* Able to lift 50 lbs. on occasion.
