Job Description

Paid Design Intern Detroit, MI

The Detroit Regional Chamber is hiring a part time Design Intern. Paid Internship offering $10.00 per hour and a free monthly parking pass or reimbursement! Schedule will be September- November 2019, Flexible schedule, 24 hours per week (Schedule will fall within the following business hours: Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.) Join our team today as a Design Intern!

Paid Design Intern Qualifications:

* Working towards a college degree/recently graduated from a four-year program in graphic design or similar (must provide portfolio).
* Understanding of organization styles and standards.
* Intermediate skill level on Apple computers with the following software:

Adobe Creative Cloud (Primary: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Lightroom)
* Photography experience desired.
* Must have effective communication skills, creativity and the ability to work cross-functionally and provide superior customer service to internal and external clients.
* Ability to multitask on multiple projects at once with multiple clients and staff.
* Ability to work quickly within tight deadlines.
* Experience using Office 365 a plus.

Paid Design Intern Responsibilities:

Use graphic design skills to support the design team to market the Detroit Regional Chamber's programs and initiatives based on direction provided by senior members of our team.

Adhere to the team's processes to keep design work on track:

* Manage assigned projects from concept creation and review, progress reporting/ updates, client review cycles and sending to the printer once finalized

Photograph Chamber events as needed using the organization DSLR camera.

Work to organize the design team drives for accuracy and efficiency:

* Update design team logo library so files are up-to-date.
* Maintain graphics/photo library for Team.
* Create/modify file formats of logos, photos as requested, correctly names, date and file graphics/photos.

The Design Intern will be responsible for supporting the Creative Advisory Team with graphic design, photography, and department administration duties.

This includes the design and layout of various print materials, edits to existing materials, file organization, event photography and photo upload to Flickr. Responsible for providing support to various projects and will be required to adhere to deadlines and communicate assignment status to team and on a regular basis.
