Job Description

Introduction:

Brandywine Counseling and Community Services (BCCS) is non-profit, outpatient alcohol and drug treatment agency that helps adults of all ages and backgrounds focus on changing behaviors and attitudes. We have served the Delaware community for over 20 years at our six locations throughout the state. Our staff includes certified alcohol and drug counselors, registered and licensed practical nurses, psychologists, and physicians who work closely with clients and their families. We are accredited by the Joint Commission and licensed by the State of Delaware. We are a full member of the United Way. Our programs help addicted individuals, and in so doing, provide a valuable service to the community.

Mission:

Brandywine Counseling and Community Services, Inc. is a substance abuse treatment agency that provides counseling and related assistance to addicted persons and their families for chemical addiction and related problems.

Philosophy:

BCCS believes substance abuse is a progressive primary disease that arrests the development and growth of individuals, contributes to economic decline, and impairs ones ability to function as a member of a family and society. All of our programs reflect a holistic model that addresses an individuals thinking, behavior, and lifestyle to prevent relapse. We treat addiction directly, but also the side effects of addiction, such as criminal activity, family violence, child neglect and abuse, infant mortality, poverty, and HIV/AIDS. Our programs provide intervention and treatment through the use of medication, counseling, education, and referral to self-help groups. Appropriate aftercare.

Basics:

During your internship you will come to understand a basic knowledge of the following areas:

1. Drug and Alcohol Treatment evaluation and protocol and testing.

2. Drug and Alcohol Treatment principles, standards, and best practices.

3. Community Resources.

4. Drug and Alcohol Clinical Practices.
