Job Description

Our Assistant Parts Managers provide effective parts and equipment support for company vehicle maintenance programs. Manages an inventory program encompassing parts, consumables, lubricants, tires and equipment items. Coordinates interdepartmental interface for maximum efficiency and productivity. Supervises a work force of one to three employees


* Management and Supervision: monitor and enforce company dress codes, counsel employees, establish work schedules, monitor and approve vacation/time off schedules, monitor workmen's compensation program actions, establish and maintain employee record files, manage the inventory control program, supervise work, prepare performance evaluations.

* Inventory Control: review and monitor management reports and initiate actions where necessary, conduct and perform interface with accounting department.

* Purchasing: purchase items from vendors/sources, approve vendor invoices for payment, coordinate purchasing data with vendors, obtain pricing data from vendors, resolve invoice errors/discrepancies with vendors.

* Coordination: conduct/perform interface with ITS regarding computer support, report preparation and program modification requirements/proposals, coordinate material/parts requirements with Tractor/Trailer manufacturers to insure availability of items to meet production/delivery schedules, coordinates with company maintenance officials regarding parts requirements/availability to insure positive support posture.

* Manage and Train Employees: identify/monitor and conduct training for employees on job requirements, assignments, procedures and responsibilities.

* General Duties: telephone work, operate forklift and parts truck, comply with and enforce company policies as published, and any other reasonable assigned duties.

* High School Diploma or Equivalent.

* 3 to 5 years heavy duty tractor/trailer parts experience.

* 1 to 3 years supervisory experience.

* Total proficiency in all tasks and functions of parts management and personnel supervision.

* Good communication skills

* Total knowledge of parts identification, sourcing and application.

* Fully knowledgeable of inventory control applications.

* Able to conduct effective training programs.

* Ability to lift in excess of 75 lbs.
