  • * Be able to work the full 6 month program, 30 - 40 hours per week * 1st or 2nd year graduate student specializing in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (some Material Science knowledge is preferred). Recent graduates with Bachelor's degree will also be considered. * Intern must be enrolled in accredited program relating to the respective discipline of the department hiring the intern or recently graduated from an accredited program in good standing. Duration of Internship: 6 months as of start date Pay Rate: starts at $18 an hour + Depending on Education/Experience. Eligible for Benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, and 401k) Internship Summary - What specific project(s) will be assigned to the Intern? Introduction: This exciting internship opportunity will support the ZWWS Engineering Lavatory Systems product line and cover various aspects of the product development process. Objectives: This internship offers the opportunity to apply various principles of engineering design in the context of the product development. The project will include the following on-the-job training on several aspects: * Application of Design Principles * Using the principles of Dynamics and Stress, Fluid Mechanics, Structural Vibrations and Control, intern will be able to identify critical parameters and contribute to the design of the Product for its intended environment. * Product Development * The development of a Lavatory Systems product is a multidisciplinary, multifaceted process that integrates several functions and key performance parameters. Most of the equipment within Lavatory Systems installs in a tight spatial envelope underneath the aircraft lavatory counter. The intern will be able to apply product development principles such as requirement definition, design, validation & verification to ensure the management of the Product system through its life cycle. * Requirements Management * As part of the requirements definition, understanding the inputs to the design such as customer needs, federal and international aviation regulations, functional and performance parameters while not compromising on ZWWS ingenuity, are critical. Moreover, the design and development of aircraft equipment visible to passengers and crew extend further than functional and performance requirements. The intern will work with the design specification and be expected to demonstrate compliance to the various requirements that pertain to the product. Work Environment: The intern will work in a multidisciplinary team (Mechanical, Electrical, Materials, Fluids/Stress Analyst). The intern will have exposure to both the analytical aspects as well as some hands-on testing to validate theoretical analyses. Intern is expected to provide feedback to the team for design improvement recommendations. Desired skillset: 1st or 2nd year graduate student specializing in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (some Material Science knowledge is preferred). Recent graduates with Bachelor's degree will be considered. What are the expected outcomes for the internship? * Project management * Familiarity with a product development process * Requirements management and compliance demonstration * Co-lead or support in a development phase gate review * Familiarity with test preparation, set up and performing test Who will be the assigned Mentor? The experienced gained during this ZWWS internship is applicable in a broad spectrum of industries (Aerospace, Telecommunications, Automotive and others). Intern will gain experience in several tools as noted above as well as laboratory and potential rig testing.
