We serve financial advisors and investors through three entities, each headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska: Carson Wealth, Carson Coaching and Carson Partners. We provide coaching and partnership services to advisor firms and straightforward financial advice to the investing public. We all share a common mission to be the most trusted in financial advice.

Who We Want

Were looking for someone who wants to write great content, but also understands the need to infuse a marketing mindset into everything they do. We wont bring in leads if were just writing fun, engaging copy, but we also wont bring them in if everything we write is blatant sales.

A copywriting intern writes text for digital content, blogs, advertisements, websites, press releases, video scripts, social media posts, and more. In addition, you will learn and implement SEO best practices for websites, blogs, ad campaigns and more. This position reports directly to the Content Director.

Carson Group is a group of more than 90 partner firms across the nation, with its headquarters in Omaha. As a copywriter, you would be joining a team of about 30 marketing professionals and working on a content production team of six. You would work out of our south office in La Vista.

What To Expect

* Write copy for partner websites, blogs, ads, social media, brochures, and other forms of advertising.

* Learn and implement SEO best practices on websites, blogs, social posts, ad campaigns and more.

* Research the technical properties of products.

* Develop authentic, natural CTAs according to the best practices of content marketing.

* Help conceive and develop effective advertising campaigns.

* Work with account executives to determine client needs and budget.

* Ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner.

* Create and present storyboards of ideas.

* Work with art directors to create ideas.

* Write clear and persuasive copy for websites, brochures, ads, and other means of advertising.

* Update digital media with timely content.

* Perform search engine optimization techniques.

* Assist content leads with campaigns from production to completion.

* Revise, edit, and proofread content as needed or directed by the leads.

* Respond to feedback in a timely manner.

* Work within tight deadlines.

* Check copy for spelling and grammar errors.

* Research competitors and stay abreast of market trends.

* Explore different ideas and concepts for both the visual and verbal elements in tandem with the creative team.

* Work with designers, illustrators, printers, photographers and production companies to complete campaigns.

* Write press releases advertising new products and services.

* Utilize Wordpress CMS to post content to websites and manage basic webpage design and layout updates.

* Other tasks as designated by leads.

What You Need

* Adaptability You could be just finishing up a blog when sales sends across an urgent request for an email series that has to go out by end of day. Things change a lot around here, so you have to be able to roll with it.

* Self-starter who doesnt wait around to be told what to do.

* Humility Being a copywriter means you create the first version and then the VPs, creative director and CMO come in and pick it apart. It wont happen every time, but it will definitely happen. Missing the mark doesnt mean youre a terrible writer, so you have to be able to take a few punches and keep going.

* Creativity Youll often write about the same topic multiple times, and you need to keep it fresh.

* A marketing mindset Copywriting for marketing requires much more than just being a good writer. You need to be interested in learning marketing best practices and tweaking your approach accordingly.

* Efficiency Of course we want to spend as much time as is needed on content, but if it takes you a whole day or more to write a single blog, this probably isnt going to work out. We publish somewhere between 10 and 30 pieces of content per week, so we have to keep moving. When the time is up, 90% and published is better than 99% and sitting on your hard drive.

* A love of writing youre going to do a lot of it, so you need to love it.

* Likable Were a big team (roughly 30), and youll probably work with everyone at some point.

* Basic proficiency within the Wordpress CMS

Skills that we would love you to have (but they aren't dealbreakers):

* A basic understanding of the world of financial advice and investing especially industry-leading voices such as Ron Carson (our founder), Michael Kitces, Carl Richards, Josh Brown, etc.

* Familiarity with multiple email marketing systems (e.g., Mailchimp, Hubspot, Salesforce MarketingCloud, Constant Contact)

* An understanding of SEO best practices to improve where our sites land in search results.
