Job Description

Job Description

Frymaster is partnering with McKinsey & Company, a leading global management consultancy, to embark on a vanguard lean and digital manufacturing transformation. The Frymaster Summer Internship Program is designed to expose high potential individuals to all phases of a complex and ambitious program to re-design manufacturing systems and processes and will take place in the company's Shreveport, LA* facility.

* Gain first-hand experience and take part in a full upgrade of manufacturing processes from mostly manual, minimally automated, and low data maturity environment to a best in class system. This will include critical projects such as implementation of a new, full ERP software.

* Work on challenging, complex problems in a no-playbook environment: interns will be offered a unique opportunity to own a discrete workstream from ideation to execution. Any transformation requires employees to find creative solutions to old problems. Interns will be encouraged to pitch ideas and projects that attend to the problems they identify.

* Work with cutting edge hardware and software technology: manufacturing is undergoing a systemic change from primacy of high labor, repetitive processes to a tech-enabled, "smart" paradigm. We are bringing the factory of the future to Frymaster. This ambition is rare in medium-sized, domestic manufacturers.

The entire intern cohort will be working on different axis of the transformation. Interns will be working alongside Frymaster employees on real projects that will have a direct impact on the business. Interns will furthermore receive support from McKinsey consultants and sector experts, learning best in class management techniques and processes. They will learn how to balance operational execution with strategic thinking and gain uniquely valuable experience in a fast-paced digital manufacturing transformation.

Frymaster is committed to the professional development of students selected in the program. Each intern will be assigned a day-to-day supervisor as well as an executive sponsor to check-in weekly on development and overall satisfaction. Special emphasis will be put on overall experience for the entire cohort: townhall with senior Frymaster management, presentation of workstreams to the entire intern group to share successes and lessons learned, lunchtime professional development sessions, company-sponsored team events, etc.

Internship structure and responsibilities:

The entire summer intern cohort will be under the overall responsibility of Operational Excellence (OpEx). While the OpEx Department has overall responsibility for progress and leadership of the transformation, initiatives are split in different working teams that involve stakeholders from specific departments. We will allocate interns to teams working on specific topics based on experience, academic background, and professional goals/interest.

* Communications, Marketing, and Outreach: develop communications strategy for project Lightning across multiple channels, serve as point of contact for all external inquiries, create presentation and other materials to share with external stakeholders, create and maintain social media presence, define employee communications cadence and language.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

Must be currently enrolled and pursuing a degree at an accredited school. Must have completed Sophomore year coursework to be eligible.

Must have valid US work authorization.

Students with all sorts of experience are encouraged to apply.

Experience in manufacturing environment is preferred but not required.

Working Conditions:

Interns will mostly work in normal office environments with extended periods of sitting and standing; but must be able to engage with processes on shop floor. Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Normal business hours, up to 40 hours a week.
