Quality organization is currently seeking a highly skilled, solutions-oriented Quality Unit Leader to join the Quality team at the Kokomo Casting Plant in Kokomo, Indiana. The Quality Unit Leader is responsible for supervising a team of up to 10 bargaining unit employees directly and providing guidance to the production auditors within the specific production teams. This position will require an individual who has excellent communication skills to monitor ongoing quality, interpret layout and x-ray results with appropriate techs, establish necessary clean points, initiate and manage quality sorting parameters, and communicate to the customer. This will require using several quality systems based on Microsoft and Lotus Notes databases. The selected individual will manage cross-functional teams and gain valuable experience/knowledge in a broad spectrum of powertrain automotive engineering, manufacturing, and quality. This position does not offer relocation assistance - the selected candidate will be responsible for any and all relocations expenses.

Job responsibilities include but not limited to:

* Supervise overall quality in die cast production areas including cast, trim, and inspection
* Communicate with layout technicians and support Met Lab operations as needed
* Support the plant ISO database, processes, and maintain plant profile(s)
* Assist to establish and implement training materials for the ISO databases
* Drive and support cultural change to ensure the success of corporate world class manufacturing initiatives
* Enforce quality system documentation (e.g. operator instructions, gage instruction, process flow diagram, temporary process authorization)
* Manage status and support quarantined material and un-quarantined material
* Establish and control quality product samples through KCP process and though our customers to qualify changes

Basic Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree
* Manufacturing experience
* Ability to analyze and translate data into visual charts/graphs, etc. for reporting purposes
* Demonstrated use of problem solving skills
* Ability to work a varied schedule as needed including weekends

Preferred Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Operations, Quality or Manufacturing
* Previous management experience
* Minimum 3 years of experience
* Two (2) years quality experience
* Supervisory experience
* Knowledge of engineering specs, standards, and build objectives
