Job Description

The academic and trade division is currently accepting applications for an editorial intern in the social sciences group.

The Intern will:

* Assist with the preparation of final manuscripts for production
* Read book proposals and, as necessary, draft rejection letters
* Write descriptive copy for book jackets and the web
* Research and submit nominations for awards and prizes
* Research reviewers and blurbers for proposals and manuscripts
* Research competitive and comparable titles
* Manage book orders and payments
* At the conclusion of the internship, the Intern can expect to have gained valuable insight, from an editorial standpoint, into the life cycle of a book from a proposal to a printed product.


* Cover letter
* Familiarity with MS Office (specifically Word and Excel)
* Excellent communication and organizational skills
* Ability to commute to our New York City office for the duration of the program
* Applications must be enrolled in a degreed program with at least one year of schooling completed or have graduated from a degreed program in the last year
