The Accounting Technician Intern will support the NMS Accounting/Finance team as well as the Camps Services Division with general accounting responsibilities. This position is a support services position whose work routine is established and follows a set of procedures. It generally functions under close supervisory direction or guidance of the Accounts Payable Supervisor.

The NMS NANA Shareholder College Internships available will be 40 hours per week, will be a six (6) to eight (8) week internship and is expected to start in June, internships may be extended or shortened based on availability of work. Lodging and transportation are not provided, the intern will be expected to cover these expenses as the apply.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Data entry - AP invoices into Deltek Costpoint 7.
* Using Excel, reconcile statements to NMS records in Costpoint.
* Review and process invoices in Esker AP automation system.
* File requests - finding, scanning, sending requested invoices out.
* Learn direct billings for selected units, ensure outstanding balance is properly reconciled using Excel.
* Learn downloads/uploads to and from Excel/Costpoint.
* Learn DSA's (Daily Sales) - Accounts Receivable.
* Learn how Payroll functions - deadlines, uploads.
* Learn how AR checks are entered into CostPoint 7.
* Spend time with the Accountants and learn weekly processes and how the numbers flow through to the financial statements.
* The ability to maintain confidentiality at all times while displaying a professional disposition.
* Demonstrated ability to complete work in a timely and accurate manner.
* Assist with implementing timecloks at two camp sites, developing reference material and training employees on procedures.
* Assist with customer service training and development, converting training material in to PowerPoints for ease of delivery for management staff.
* This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
* Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success also may be assigned.

Minimum Requirements

* Currently enrolled in college or is a recent graduate.
* NANA Shareholder.
* Must be at least 18 years' old.
* Must be able to provide legal documentation for your eligibility to work in the US.
* The ability to travel which will require working 12 hours at a time. Assignments serve to offer practical experience and broad exposure to NMS' organizational structure. Specific activities vary by assignment.

Description of environment: Building Office Setting, slow pace of work environment and medium customer interaction

Regularly required to sit, stand, etc.: Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.

Physical requirements: Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Travel: Employee may travel up to 25% to Red Dog, North Slope or other remote locations and may be required to use alternative modes of transportation, including but not limited to snow machines, boats, small airplanes and ATVs. Travel is coordinated by NMS.
