Job Description

The Greenbrier Companies, Inc. (GBX), headquartered in Lake Oswego, Oregon, is a leading international supplier of equipment and services to the freight rail transportation markets. We are seeking a Business Analyst Intern for summer 2019.

Job summary:
This role is responsible for facilitating Greenbrier's Business Analyst efforts. This will include coordinating status updates to the project backlog, working with the team on current and future state process analysis, and recording and updating new requests from the business. It will also involve creating regular status updates to business users and keeping teams informed of next steps and work status.

This role will help drive our new IT Intake Process, focusing on ensuring clear communication with the business as well as keeping top priority items moving forward in the process, coordinate with the Business Intelligence team to drive Intake and Backlog analytics. The resource will also be involved in all aspects of the IT Business Analyst process including scope discovery, process analysis, software fit evaluation, technical and architectural review meetings, and business training.

This role requires exercising good judgment, demonstrating initiative, and discretion, and leading with appropriate urgency to make decisions.

Skills and experience requirements:
* You must be a full-time college or graduate student majoring in one of the following:
Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science or Statistics
* Ability and desire to understand complex business processes
* Problem solving skills with strong attention to detail and concern for quality
* Good research skills, including the ability to talk to end users
* A hunger to learn new skills, and to dive into challenging problems
