Pfenex Internship Program Overview

Pfenex's intern program is a project-based internship program that is open to rising juniors or above enrolled in an accredited university program. Our internship program spans 12 weeks and consists of not only project specific work but additional development opportunity. To qualify for our internship program, all interns must have a 3.0 GPA or above. Each intern will be assigned a mentor and will have exposure to industry specific projects and programs.

Downstream Sciences Internship Summary

Pfenex is looking for an intern to join our Downstream Processing Team for the summer. In this role, the selected intern will work with their assigned mentor to develop tests to demonstrate appropriate equipment use. In this role, the intern will learn about various instruments including conductivity meter, particle sizer and spectrophotometer. At the end of the internship, the intern will help with standardizing SOP's and partnering with the Downstream team to standardize appropriate instrument use. The ideal intern should be comfortable working in a lab setting. This is an ideal role for an intern that may be interested in exploring R&D positions in the future.

Intern Qualifications

* Must be a rising junior or above with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA
* Currently pursuing a BS/BA in Chemistry/ Biology / Biochemistry or another science related degree
* Completion of at least 1 upper division lab course
* Strong organizational skills
* Affinity for working with instruments
* Strong interpersonal skills
* Experience working with proteins a plus
* Ability to commit to a 12-week intern program, 40 hrs. a week
