Job Description

The Sioux Falls Family YMCA is currently looking to hire 2 part-time Lead Infant/Toddler Teacher at the YMCA's Child Development Center West & Downtown. The centers are located at 2512 S Carolyn & 220 S Minnesota Ave in Sioux Falls. The teachers will work approximately 25-28 hours per week Monday through Friday.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Child Development Coordinator, the Lead Infant/Toddler Teacher will provide direction for the classroom and implement curriculum that will promote social, cultural, educational, physical and emotional growth for our infants. The Lead Infant/Toddler Teacher will provide a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Maintain DSS program standards.
* Implement daily lesson/activity plans to support a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
* Supervise children, classroom, and all activities; ensure care and safety of children.
* Make ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child according to the required schedule.
* Assist in conducting parent conferences, and maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents.
* Maintain classroom and equipment, and adheres to the scheduled cleaning.
* Maintain required program records including attendance, medical, and food service records.
* Adheres to posted schedule, curriculum and menus according to regulation.
* Attends and participates in family nights, staff meetings, staff training, and YMCA special events.
* Additional duties as required and assigned by a supervisor to support the overall mission of the YMCA and to ensure the success of the Child Development Center.

Basic Qualifications

* Must meet educational and experience qualifications established by the Department of Social Services for licensing requirements:
* Must be at least 18 years old.
* Must obtain, and keep current, certification in CPR, First Aid, and Child Abuse Preventionwithin 30 days of hire.
* Must be able to physically participate in children's activities and evacuation drills, to move about the classroom and playground, take neighborhood walks, and lift children.
* Must be able to drive and transport children in center vehicles.
* Must have at least 6 months experience working with children in an educational environment

Preferred Qualifications

* Associates degree in relevant field.
* Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities and curriculum.
* Previous experience working with diverse populations; ability to develop positive and authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
* Knowledge of DSS program standards.

Required Certifications

* Pass criminal background & state required checks
* Clear driving record and valid license
* First Aid / CPR (must be willing to attain)
