Job Description

Greenbrier Leasing Company ("GLC") is a major player in the railcar leasing industry. GLC owns and manages one of the largest railcar leasing fleets in North America.

GLC has an opening for an Accountant 1. This role contributes to the monthly close process with a focus on entry level journal entries and related reconciliations, assisting lease accounting staff, and other general ledger responsibilities.

This position reports to the Greenbrier Leasing Accounting Supervisor.


* Prepare and post journal entries for maintenance expense and small entities
* General ledger reconciliations for select financial accounts
* Update the cost allocation of agreement tables and assist mechanical department with related questions
* Assist in implementing new revenue and lease accounting change processes
* Ad hoc analysis and reportin
* Prepare select quarterly footnote schedules as required for SEC reporting
* Perform trend analysis for small entities
* Create annual ad valorem tax billing allocation schedule
* Perform additional accounting duties to support the team
* Document scanning

Education and Experience:

* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related is required; one year of experience preferred
* Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles
* Proficient in Excel and Word; advanced Excel skills are a plus
* Experience in EPICOR is a plus
* Lease accounting experience is a plus
