Job Description

Position Description:

The Accountant I position performs routine general accounting functions in the Accounting operation area with the central focus on general ledger reconcilements and entries, maintenance of subsidiary systems and ledgers and operational reporting.

Position Accountabilities:

* Prepares reconcilements to assist in the operational accounting process including but not limited to investments, cash and due-from banks, other assets and other liabilities.
* Prepares and reviews general ledger entries in accordance with bank procedures and GAAP.
* Prepares weekly FR2900 report.
* Performs daily General Ledger Settlement through clearing of the GL unposted account and communication with bank departments regarding entry process.
* Prepares Federal and State back-up withholding and annual tax filing.
* Completes daily Federal Reserve Account Reconcilement.
* Maintains banks Fixed Asset System through asset input, monthly processing and general ledger interface.
* Updates daily CETO reserve accounting system.
* Analyzes General Ledger accounts as required and researches outstanding items.
* Prepares Dunbar(cash provider) reconcilements.
* Prepares monthly accruals to accurately reflect income and expense according to basic accounting principles.
* Provides back-up for accounting staff.
* Completes routine research projects as requested.

Organizational Relationship:

The position reports to the Manager of Accounting in the Financial Accounting operations area and works closely with the Financial Reporting team, Treasury and other bank departments.RequirementsPosition Qualifications

Education & Experience:

* Undergraduate degree with accounting coursework or equivalent experience.
* One-three years of experience, preferably with financial institutions experience.

Knowledge & Skills:

* Knowledge of accounting principles and financial institutions.
* PC skills including spreadsheet, word processing and accounting applications.
* Strong oral and written skills with ability to prepare and present financial information.
* Analytical and problem solving skills.
* Well developed interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to work well in teams .
* Ability to adapt to change and foster growth resulting from change.
