Job Description

POSITION: Transportation Engineer I

Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for a transportation engineer starting in Winter 2017 or May 2018, in our Chicago, Crystal Lake, and Mokena Illinois office. This position will primarily consist of design engineering efforts on a variety of transportation projects for State, County, and Local Agencies. A knowledge of designing roadway and underground improvements with Geopak is required. This team orientated position will include working with Baxter & Woodmans diverse disciplines and offices.

POSITION DUTIES:

* Design Roadway, Underground Utility, and Infrastructure improvements using Geopak
* Conduct drainage, traffic, and various engineering studies
* Complete general civil engineering services for municipal, county and state clients
* Complete engineering plans and specifications using IDOT Standards
* Process Federal Aid Phase I and II projects for a variety of clients
* Assist with construction engineering services for municipal, county and state clients
* Assist with projects engineers and managers with a wide variety of tasks required during project delivery

REQUIREMENTS:

* B.S. degree in Civil Engineering with anticipated F.E. ( Fundamentals of Engineering) certification
* Relevant internship/co-op experience with municipal or highway agency transportation projects
* Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodmans service area (own transportation)
* Ability to independently handle a variety of ongoing tasks and responsibilities
* Strong written, verbal, computer and organizational skills
* E.I.T (Engineer in Training) with anticipated Professional Engineer
* Work within a team-first culture that encourages individual development and accomplishment of goals
