The State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Division of Project Development, Bureau of Planning and Community Assistance has a full time vacancy for Civil Engineer I - III.

Summary:

CIVIL ENGINEER I:

To perform entry level civil engineering duties associated with the collection and editing of transportation data.

CIVIL ENGINEER II:

To perform basic engineering duties associated with the collection and editing of transportation data.

CIVIL ENGINEER III:

To monitor and review engineering projects or to coordinate engineering activities for a group of civil engineering projects associated with the collection and editing of transportation data.

Responsibilities:

CIVIL ENGINEER I:

Collect and edit transportation data.

Support GIS projects and initiatives to meet internal and external customer requests.

Perform engineering, analytical, spatial and statistical analysis from GIS data to support Department decisions and policies.

Perform analysis of transportation data using GIS tools, Oracle and SQL tools and Microsoft Office.

Create and support transportation map development using complex symbology, standard and non-standard data sets.

Review cartographic and other GIS products for accuracy and completeness.

Provide and coordinate technical assistance to other Bureaus and offices within the Department.

CIVIL ENGINEER II:

Collects and edits transportation data.

Supports GIS projects and initiatives to include scope and project timeline recommendations, implementation, maintenance and customer requests.

Performs engineering, analytical, spatial and statistical analysis from GIS data to support Department decisions and policies.

Performs complex analysis of transportation data using GIS tools, Oracle and SQL tools and Microsoft Office.

Creates and supports transportation map developing using complex symbology, standard and non-standard data sets.

Reviews cartographic and other GIS products for accuracy and completeness.

Provides and coordinates technical assistance to other Bureaus and offices within the Department.

Supervises and instructs GIS staff and temporary employees for specific assignments.

CIVIL ENGINEER III:

Collects and edits transportation data.

Supports and manages GIS projects and initiatives to include scope, project timelines, implementation, maintenance and customer reports.

Performs complex engineering, analytical, spatial and statistical analysis from GIS data to support Department decisions and policies.

Performs complex analysis of transportation data using GIS tools, Oracle and SQL tools and Microsoft Office.

Creates, supports and manages transportation map development using complex symbology, standard and non-standard data sets.

Reviews cartographic and other GIS products for accuracy and completeness.

Provides and coordinates technical assistance to other Bureaus and Offices within the Department.

Supervises and instruct GIS staff and temporary employees including assigning job duties, recommending leave, etc.

CIVIL ENGINEER I:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with a major study in civil engineering or civil engineering technology.

Experience: No experience required.

OR

Education: Possession of an Associate's degree from a recognized college or technical school with a major study in civil technology.

Experience: Two years' post graduate experience in a civil engineering environment in a position comparable to an Engineering Technician.

License/Certification: Applicant must possess a valid driver's license. The applicant's Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as established by the hiring agency. Possession of an Engineer-in-Training Certificate issued by the Joint Board of Licensure and Certification. (Bachelor's degree applicants not possessing an E.I.T. Certificate may be hired at a one-salary grade reduction).

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: All accountabilities must be performed in accordance with State and Department rules and policies, including risk management, safety and environmental standards, regulations and administrative orders.

Candidates with degrees in one of the fields listed below may be hired at a level of Engineering Technician (level depends upon experience) and promoted to Civil Engineer I upon possession of an E.I.T. Certificate and the experience qualifications stated on this class specification:

* Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering Technology
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
* Bachelor's degree in an Environmental Science
* Associate's degree in Architectural Engineering Technology and Architecture and Building Technology

Consideration of the candidates' qualifications will take place on a case-by-case basis by the Division of Personnel in conjunction with the Department of Transportation.

CIVIL ENGINEER II:

Experience: Four years' experience in the practice of civil engineering at a level equivalent to Civil Engineer I (or higher), plus two additional years' experience in a position comparable to an Engineering Technician.
