Job Description

Overview

The Analytical Chemistry Lab Assistant is responsible for preparing analytical solutions for sample analysis using analytical techniques accurately and efficiently following CPL procedures.

The Lab Assist works closely with other laboratory personnel. He or she, under the supervision of a more senior analyst, supervisor or manager, assist with routine extractions. Workload has highs and lows. During high volumes, they must be able to prioritize assigned work. During low volumes, they must be resourceful in determining areas of usefulness such as general cleaning and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

Principle Responsibilities:

Prepares solutions such as mobile phases and buffersAssists with routine extractions and solutions under the supervision of the supervisor or managerMakes and records observations and performs mathematical calculationsCleans laboratory glassware and helps maintain lab orderlinessAccomplishes all necessary and applicable trainingDocuments promptly and clearly all procedural processesAssists with administrative dutiesOther duties as assignedQualifications

Education:

Associates degree or technical institute training in a science or science related field

OR

Be a full-time Bachelors degree-seeking student in a science or a science related field

Experience:

Preferred - Laboratory related experience

Skills and Knowledge: Ability to understand written and verbal instructions. Must be able to work well with a variety of laboratory personnel. Excellent attention to detail. Basic computer knowledge. Must be able to work with constant interruptions.
