Job Description

Overview:

Location/Department: DHQ - Development (Hartford, CT)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Hours Per Week: 40

Schedule: Temporary, October 2016-December 2016

Scope & Purpose of Position:

Responsible for the management and coordination of all events, specifically focused on the Holiday Store event. There will be other events planned during this time period associated with The Salvation Army of Greater Hartford.

Responsibilities:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

* Plan, implement, and follow-up regarding all special events and annual receptions, with specific focus on the relationship with WTIC Radio and all events associated to the Holiday Store events.
* Develop and maintain event and volunteer databases.
* Coordinate event logistics, publicity, including public relations, advertising, and collateral material design, production, and distribution.
* Develop and fulfill event and marketing budgets.
* Manage silent auction, prize, and in-kind donation solicitations for each event.
* Cultivate and expand sponsorship development and fulfillment.
* Ensure placement of press releases and stories to established contacts with local and regional media in conjunction with the Development Department.

Qualifications:

* A minimum of 2 to 4 years of experience in a paid special events, marketing, and website management position preferred.
* Evidence of successful event, sponsorship, marketing, public relations, website, and business development/relationship programs required.
* Will respect and promote the interest of The Salvation Army. The individual is not required to embrace the tenets of faith, but he/she is required to promote and respect the mission of The Salvation Army.
