Recruiters Using Social Media to Screen Candidates

According to Mashable, recruiters often use social profiles to screen candidates before making a job offer. Quoting a survey of 300 recruiters that was conducted by Reppler, they found that 90% of respondents had visited candidates’ social media profiles as part of the screening process.

Other interesting findings:

-Facebook is used by employers 76% of the time when screening candidates.

-69% of recruiters have rejected candidates based on content found in their social profiles.

-Reasons for rejecting candidates include inappropriate photos and people lying about their qualifications.

Be careful what you post on your profile because employers are definitely looking.
