Job Description


The purpose of this internship is to prepare college juniors and seniors for entry into the business world by providing a thorough understanding of the various functions of the Zebra Technologies organization to include theory and practical application of attained knowledge. Project work will differ in each area depending on business needs, and all interns will participate in the US Zebra Internship Program. The program is designed to provide you with a full experience so that you can fully envision a career with Zebra. You be positioned for success with training, exposure to all parts of the business, social activities, a professional mentor relationship and development sessions to help you discover your own performance edge!

The Business Communications team consists of both Employee and Executive Communications. The team is responsible for all internal communications, including the company's intranet, mass corporate email and company-wide employee engagement events. The Executive communications team is aligned to Zebra's top executives and is responsible for All Hands events, broader event content (e.g., Sales Kick-offs, Channel Partner Summits and external keynotes) thought leadership and overall communications strategy.


The Business Communications Intern will have a specific focus on Executive Communications, supporting c-level communications strategies, which tactically include memos, messaging, presentations and creative design projects that help elevate Zebra's top leaders internally. The intern will also gain exposure to the full breadth of Business Communications by leading a pre-defined communications project that addresses a strategic need of the team. In the past few years, our interns have focused on building out an approach to optimize internal meetings, developed cross-functional marketing plans to execute Zebra's 50th anniversary celebration both internally and externally, and developed best practices for scaling multimedia execution across an internal communications network. Our goal for the project will be to customize it so that we:

* Address a timely business need
* Expose our intern to both strategic- and tactical-level communications development
* Capture the interests, enthusiasm and talents of the prospective intern
* Push our intern to build their business and communications acumen
* Generate greater visibility for the Executive Communications team across Business Units / regions and the value for high-quality communications support
* Encourage our intern to use multiple modes of communications to further develop their professional skills
* Develop planning, organizational and time management skills
* Increase technology knowledge and skills
* Develop team-based work competencies
* Develop interpersonal skills to communicate with employees
* Develop interpersonal skills to communicate with day-to-day business contacts through follow up activities
* Develop interpersonal skills to communicate with external and external customers


* Current enrollment in an undergraduate/graduate degree program in a discipline related to the project specifics. If an undergraduate, must be at the rising or graduated senior level
* Must be pursuing a degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, Business or other related fields of study

* Enthusiasm for the power of communication and the effect it can have on driving engagement, alignment and business results
* Understanding of design and video editing tools/programs is a plus
* Intellectual curiosity with a strong desire to learn and grow
* Proven leadership and excellence in professional, academic and/or extracurricular experiences
* Strong problem-solving abilities
* Effective verbal and written communication skills
* Strong interpersonal skills
* Ability to collaborate as part of a team
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, & PowerPoint)
* Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship
* Must reside within 50 miles from the primary work location
