Job Description

The archives intern will work under the supervision of the Archives Manager to further the mission of Young Life through collecting, arranging, describing, and making accessible the records and archival material generated by Young Lifes nearly 75 years of mission work. The intern will be included in Communications team and cross-functional project planning/update meetings and learning/training opportunities.?

Essential Duties:

* Assist in the employment of long-term preservation measures for film, photographic materials, paper, books and various other media.
* Arrange archival materials according to the principles of creator's intent and original order.
* Create finding aids, databases and other tools to aid in the description and retrieval of archival materials.
* Recommend fresh ideas for reaching key audiences and demonstrating the relevance of the Young Life archive to the larger Young Life mission; could include using Social Media and other outreach technologies.
* Assist archives users by helping to identify and retrieve archival materials relevant to their information needs.
* Learn to use various equipment for the display, migration and preservation of film, slides, photographs and paper-based media.
* Curates exhibit of artifacts and photographs in two display cases at the Service Center.


* Pursuing or an undergraduate degree in history, theology, library science or information science; or some experience in an archive, museum or library system.

Working Conditions:

* Office environment.

Qualifications Required for the Job/Preferred Skills:

* High level of attention to detail.
* Interest in library and archival sciences, research methodologies, history or theology.
* Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Adobe products, and PowerPoint.
* Experience working with archival materials and/or doing academic research in special collections or archival settings.
* Familiarity with the mission and structure of Young Life.
