Job Description

Essential Functions:

* Plans and implements curriculum within the established guidelines.
* Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans.
* Observes and assesses assigned site(s) for a minimum of 30 minutes per week per site as required by the Office of Child Care Licensing.
* Maintains accurate records of weekly visits and daily documentation.
* Supervises and coaches site staff on performance.
* Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities.
* Acquaints children with rules, activities, and daily schedules.
* Maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents. Engages parents as volunteers.
* Maintains program site and equipment.
* Maintains required program records.
* Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and required staff training.
* Perform other duties as may be required by supervisors for the benefit of the program.
* Meets all state licensing requirements.
* Reports program needs and concerns to Program Director.

Physical Requirements:

* Ability to lead and participate in MVPA (Moderate to Vigorous Physical Activity) and HEPA (Healthy Eating and Physical Activity) standards.
* Ability to perform heavy work including exerting 50 pounds of force and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects including the human body.

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience: To meet licensing requirements, the Early Child hood Intern must be at least 16 years of age or 15 years of age if attending a vocational or technical high school's three-year program in early childhood education or a traditional high school's career pathway program in early childhood. An early childhood intern must be at least four years older than any child in his or her direct care and meet one of the following education qualifications:

* Successful completion of at least 15-clock-hours of quality-assured training in early care and education;

or -

* Successful completion of at least three college or university credits from a regionally approved college or university in either child development or early childhood education;
* CPR, First Aid, AED certifications within 60 days of hire date.
* Ability to participate in and successfully complete all job-related online trainings.
* Ability to plan, organize and implement program activities.
* Ability to observe and assess school age sites to ensure they are maintaining YDE and OCCL standards.
* Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
* Ability to be flexible and willing to accommodate the needs of the pre-school community.
* Ability to provide for the physical and emotional needs of children ages 3 1/2 to 5 years old.
* Ability to interact and communicate clearly in a positive manner with children, other workers and parents of participants.
