Job Description

Essential Functions:

* Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities as assigned.
* Acquaints children with rules, activities, and daily schedules.
* Assists in planning and implementing curriculum within the established guidelines.
* Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans.
* Maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents. Engages parents as volunteers.
* Maintains program site and equipment.
* Maintains required program records.
* Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and required staff training.
* Adheres to policies related to boundaries with youth and related to managing high-risk activities and supervising youth.
* Attends all required risk management training's.
* Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors/policy violations and follows mandated abuse reporting requirements.
* Meets all state licensing requirements.
* Reports program needs and concerns to Program Director.

Minimum Requirements:

* Education and Experience: To meet licensing requirements, the School Age Site Assistant must be at least 16 years of age and must meet one of the following qualifications:
* Option 1: Successful completion of three (3) credits in recreation, elementary education, school-age care or school-age administration
* Option 2: Successful completion of at least 15-clock-hours of quality-assured training in school-age care within 12 months of employment
* Option 3: Successful completion of the education requirement for a higher-level position in the Delacare regulations CPR, First Aid, AED certifications within 60 days of hire date.


* Ability to participate in and successfully complete all job-related online training's.
* Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
* Ability to observe and assess school age sites to ensure they are maintaining YDE and OCCL standards.
* Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
* Ability to be flexible and willing to accommodate the needs of the school age community.
* Ability to provide for the physical and emotional needs of children ages 5 to 14 years old.
* Ability to interact and communicate clearly in a positive manner with children, other workers and parents of participants.
* Ability to lead and participate in Moderate to Vigorous Physical Activity (MVPA) and Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) standards.
* Ability to perform heavy work including exerting 50 pounds of force and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects including the human body.
* Ability to use technology to complete reports, record attendance and complete other duties.
