Location: Fremont , CA


Provide engineering leadership in support of West Coast Business Development group customers. Main duties include assisting team members with problem identification, documentation, notification and resolution response in accordance with customer specific requirements. Develop and maintain metrics related to customer satisfaction and corporate/BU objectives.


Supervise Team

* Ensure that team structure and staffing levels are in line with business requirements
* Hire and work with team to improve their skills and competencies, using feedback, coaching, motivation, and mentoring techniques
* Implement associate development tools, including objective setting and the performance review process
* Ensure training needs are identified and met
* Ensure the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of effective, efficient, and common processes, procedures, and methodologies
* Ensure data is collected, analyzed and corrective actions implemented for team metrics
* Provide regular communication to the team on administrative issues and policies
* Assist HR with resolution of compliance, safety, integrity concerns, or grievances within team
* Support long-range and short-term group forecasts, goals, objectives, and priorities
* Prepare and maintain updated job descriptions ensuring functions are aligned with processes and procedures
* Resolve customer and internal issues to facilitate implementation of group objectives and achieve customer satisfaction


* Lead cost reduction meetings with Manufacturing (applicable regions)
* Coordinate with Resident Engineer to resolve any PPM discrepancies on customer PPM reports; follow escalation process
* Ensure cost responsibility for containment actions are identified, approved and charged back to responsible party(s) in accordance with processes
* Compile cost recovery packages for component related concerns and follow-up with Supplier Quality Assurance

Additional Responsibilities

* Review GQRS to assure proper binning of report types and data entry
* Coordinate plant containment actions when necessary
* Review and approve quality rework instructions
* Assign temporary resources, as needed, for plant actions
* Initiate charge back dispute process w/customer as required
* Coordinate and communicate amongst functional groups to achieve internal and external customer satisfaction
* Technical (systems and design) responsibilities may be required to support the team


Degree Requirements: BSEE, BSME or equivalent experience

Previous Experience:

* 7+ years of wiring design experience in the automotive or aerospace industry.
* 3+ years of supervisory responsibilities

Travel Requirements: Frequent travel to customer site. Minimal international travel.

On Call Requirements: As required

Physical Requirements:

* Ability to troubleshoot and rework wire harnesses, in warehouses or assembled on vehicles, during wire harness or vehicle builds
* Ability to lift wire harness assemblies up to 40 pounds
* Ability to climb inside of vehicles to troubleshoot and rework


* Strong technical and analytical abilities (experience in electrical distribution systems preferred)
* Understand internal change management system and process
* Understand customer change management process
* Knowledge of DFA, DFM and DFMEA


* 3D Design (CATIA, UG, IDEAS, and/or Solid Works)
* 2D Design (Harness XC)
* System Design (Logic, Zuken, and/or Integrator)
* Data Management (SharePoint, SIENE II, JIRA, and/or SAP)
* Electronics (eCAD and/or PADS)
* Simulation (Saber, MiniTab, Spice and/or MatLab)
