Job Description

Yaskawa is currently seeking a Technical Writer to join our Applications Engineering group located at our headquarters facility in Waukegan, IL. This role is responsible for producing high quality technical publications for Products in our Drives and Motion division. Working under minimal supervision, duties reflect substantial variety and complexity.

Duties include:

* Creating technical documents from roughly translated materials using page layout software
* Preparing technical information for customers
* Creating technical manuals, occasionally catalogs and other collateral information for worldwide distribution to customers
* Maintaining a database of technical documents, creating and maintain other reports or prepare documents for special projects, which may involve research of information

Qualifications:

* College degree (Technical Writing degree with strong English proficiency; or Engineering degree) or equivalent related work experience.
* Three (3) years of technical writing experience in a manufacturing environment
* Ability to edit roughly translated or written technical English into professional ready-to-publish documents. Requires excellent proofreading and editing ability.
* Ability to learn and understand the basics of the technical material (electrical, electronic, or mechanical) being worked on in order to produce clear and concise technical documents with the assistance of the Product and Application engineers.
* PC proficient using FrameMaker, Desktop Publishing and Graphics software
* Proficient in general business office procedures and capable of prioritizing work flow. Ability to adapt to different situations.
* Excellent communication and organization skills.
