The Data Center Automation team develops software and tools to make our data centers and the work that happens inside them more efficient. We use a combination of software development and Unix systems experience to contribute to the automation of Oath's global data center operations. Our team helps deliver simpler, more automated, and more reliable results for our global data centers.


You will be responsible for designing and developing software to automate data center operations tasks. You have strong development experience in a variety of languages, and understand system administration on large scale deployments. You understand the value of simplicity in process design, and want to deliver the cleanest, most efficient way to get things done. You like digging in to understand the nitty gritty of how things get done, and proposing improvements and tools to drive efficiency. Your day:

* Plan, design, develop, code and test software systems and applications to automate data center operations
* Propose new areas for automation and continuous improvements that will save effort and improve the reliability of the organization
* Learn Oath's data center, network, and server infrastructure environment to better contribute to operational improvements
* Create reporting that clearly communicates efficiency metrics
* Troubleshoot advanced technical issues encountered by the data center operations team

Minimum Qualifications:

* Undergraduate degree (graduate degree preferred) in computer science, engineering, or related field
* Strong software development skills and experience - Go, Javascript, PHP, Perl, or other
* Strong system administration skills and experience - Linux, network, system administration
* Strong problem solving skills, including application and network-level troubleshooting ability
* Excellent written & oral communication skills, proven ability to write meaningful bugs, documentation, training

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience supporting 24x7, highly-available, distributed production environments (1000s of servers)
* Hands-on experience w/ revision control, build & release tools: Git, Jenkins
* Experience working in a DevOps environment
* Hands-on experience w/ server hardware maintenance
* Understanding of data center infrastructure (electrical, physical, network)
