Schedule:  Monday - Friday, 4:00pm - 12:00am

Responsibilities 

  • Facilitate requests for quotes from the customer utilizing Sylectus
  • Field incoming/outgoing phone calls or e-mail messages regarding shipment status inquiries, service delays, and special handling requests
  • Build a positive rapport and relationship with their assigned customer base in order to facilitate growth opportunities including incremental freight
  • Communicate proactively with Customers, Management and Sales regarding orders in jeopardy, service exceptions, accessorial charges being incurred and general account issues
  • Review available capacity within the shipping region and schedules pickup/delivery appointments
  • Maintain and update account profiles to ensure that the requirements are documented and are an accurate representation of the customer’s service expectations, processes, and measurements
  • Enter orders based on customer specific business rules to determine if the order will be accepted and will meet the customer’s expectations for pickup and delivery
  • Bid on freight utilizing internet bid boards, emails, and customer portals
  • Receive and enter orders via fax, phone, email, customer web or EDI
  • Perform manual order entry of customer shipping orders and instructions (including hazardous information) for customers who do not send orders electronically
  • Identify pickup and delivery expectations and records primary order dates and critical instructions into the operating system 
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Hold a minimum of a High School Diploma, Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Transportation and Customer Service preferred
  • Strong problem recognition and problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate appropriate hours of coverage based on business needs and demands
  • Possess advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Maintain an understanding of the various business divisions within Pacer and their strategic goals
  • Possess strong project management skills. Strong time management skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Language Skills                                               

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization

Mathematical Skills                                                       

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

Reasoning Ability                                                           

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
