The Operations Manager provides support to home delivery services for a designated market region. As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing daily operations of motor carriers. You will maintain positive, ongoing relationships with external customers and be responsible for generating positive customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions

  • Manage motor carriers operating six days per week in multiple locations, and assist in route planning and route monitoring for current day region of deliveries
  • Pre-screen contract carriers from incoming applicant database for contract eligibility based upon DOT standards and company policy
  • Continuously develop motor carrier base operation to meet productivity demands
  • Build relationships with customers to ensure continued operating improvements
  • Work with national sales team on pricing, competitive advantages and disadvantages to facilitate new avenues of growth
  • Manage expense accurately and meet P&L budget goals
  • Train and develop contract carriers and dispatch personnel to meet and exceed the customers’ expectations and company goals
  • Manages 1 subordinate supervisor who supervises up to 10 warehouse associates and dispatch personnel
  • Interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Minimum Required Education: Associate’s degree in a business-related field or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum Required Experience: 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Desirable Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management with two years of logistics management experience and knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations
  • Able to identify opportunities to increase accuracy and optimize resources and develop, recommend and implement solutions
  • Utilizes variety of interpersonal styles and communication methods to effectively adapt to new work structures, processes, or cultures
  • Effective organizational, leadership and presentation skills
  • Strong business focus with demonstrated ability to act in partnership with management teams
  • Proven leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to effectively supervise, coach and influence employees
  • Microsoft Office knowledge
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds
