Position Summary

The Branch President is the functional lead for strategic development within the company and manages the daily operations of a fully functional brokerage operation focused on serving the transactional third party logistics market. Manages multiple tasks and responsibilities, exercising independent judgment and discretion on a daily basis.

This is a leadership role within our Brokerage business. The successful candidate will lead the sales and operations activities of the branch, drive revenue and ensure achievement of profitability goals.

 

Responsibilities

  • Execute a cohesive strategy for disciplined growth across all of the company’s Brokerage operations.
  • Oversee and optimize operational processes, including sales incentive programs, customer and carrier contractual agreements, key employee hires and IT applications, among others. 
  • Develop and execute high-growth financial plans, and report on performance against plan. 
  • Achieve significant P&L success as evidenced by measureable improvements in revenue, margin, cost efficiency, profitability, employee productivity, safety and compliance. 
  • Develop compelling sales and marketing initiatives that communicate XPO’s value proposition for the Brokerage customer. 
  • Collaborate and cross-sell with other divisions to strengthen XPO brand awareness as a single-source supply chain partner. 
  • Develop an effective strategy for attracting and retaining quality fleet owners, owner-operators and partner carriers.
  • Perform all executive duties in accordance with XPO policies and applicable laws.  
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of business unit.
  • Managing direct reports as well as 25+ employees in Brokerage Customer Sales and Brokerage Carrier Operations.
  • Direct responsibility for the development and training of Sales Manager/Supervisors, Sales Representatives, Carrier Representatives, Logistics Coordinators, Sales Assistants & any other local branch brokerage hire.
  • Provide industry expertise, guidance, and support with pricing, understanding of revenue and margin targets, freight claims, and safety and compliance.
  • Use data to drive operational and margin improvements through reviewing shipment reports by lane, customer, carrier, equipment type and regions. Emphasis is on pricing, costs and service.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management or Logistics; preferred
  • 10+ years of logistics experience; 7+ in a managerial role related to Brokerage 3PL.
  • Analytical Skills - Identifies opportunities to increase accuracy and optimize resources and develops/recommends/implements solutions, strong aptitude for understanding and analyzing large amounts of data from multiple sources, performs complex analysis of data, processes, policies, procedures and/or systems, develops insightful, value-added and actionable analyses with detailed explanations regarding drivers of those results.
  • Leadership Skills - Strong business focus with demonstrated ability to act in partnership with management teams, proven leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to effectively supervise, coach and influence employees, performs with high level of initiative exhibiting persistence and willingness to stimulate new ideas within the organization, takes calculated risks, makes strategic, results-oriented decisions, and accepts responsibility for the results (positive or negative).
  • Communication Skills - Presents organized and thorough information and data appropriate for intended audience, excellent negotiation skills to deal effectively with individuals and groups within and outside the organization, utilizes variety of interpersonal styles and communication methods to effectively adapt to new work structures, processes, or cultures, demonstrates group presentation skills and excellent negotiation skills to deal effectively with individuals and groups within and outside the organization.
  • Travel and Hours - Must be able to work extended hours including weekends, and must be able to travel approximately 25% of the time including between branches, regionally and to the corporate headquarters.
