The operations work planner is responsible for planning work that is specifically carried out by the operations department. The planning specifically includes responsibility for developing clearance orders and operations steps in other work orders.

Essential Responsibilities


  • Establish clearance orders for work orders for all conditions to ensure the safe isolation of equipment for maintenance.
  • Review work orders per the work week process to ensure operations concerns are adequately addressed. These concerns include, but are not limited to: reactivity, limiting conditions of operation and technical specification concerns, configuration control. Maintain work week performance indicators in the blue or green status for assigned work weeks.
  • Determine return to service testing requirements and plan accordingly.
  • Support site initiatives related to operations work planning as necessary to maintain site and fleet goals. Examples of initiatives that would require additional functions are Planned Maintenance Optimization, Procedure Upgrade Process, Outage planning support, PassPort upgrade rollout, and work management recovery project.
  • Process corrective action program assignments, including, but not limited to condition evaluations, corrective actions, periodic root cause and apparent cause evaluation team membership, procedure change requests, engineering change requests, drawing change requests, and other program requirements, as assigned.
  • Support industry and fleet initiatives and attend periodic industry meetings to stay abreast of industry trends and determine best industry practices.
  • Attend site, department, group, fleet, and industry training as required to maintain qualifications and enhance productivity.




  • This position requires a minimum of a high school education. Post high school education is desired.
  • This position requires proficiency in computer operations. Proficiency in standard computer software is required.
  • Familiarity with the following specialized software is desired: PassPort, P3 planner.
  • This position requires detailed knowledge of this specific plant design.
  • A minimum of 5 years of operations experience or 10 years site experience is required.


Must live within 60 minutes to ensure proper implementation of Emergency Response plan.


A condition of employment will be successfully obtaining and maintaining General Security Clearance and a Nuclear Security Clearance for unescorted access to Xcel Energy nuclear plants including successful completion of nuclear General Access Training (GAT) and the nuclear security screening process (typically consists of an alcohol/drug screen, a criminal history check, a psychological assessment, initial credit and background investigation and periodic credit & criminal history checks).
