WSP is currently initiating a search for a Portland Civil Engineering Manager for our Portland, OR office. The candidate will gain experience in leading the implementation of transportation projects, including highway and urban street design, bus rapid transit, multimodal improvements, and multidiscipline coordination.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Responsible for the management, growth and development of the Portland Office Civil Engineering operations, as well as performance of the projects they are assigned
* Provide local focus, direction and leadership within the Portland office, partnering closely with the Area Manager, Business Development Manager, and other supervisory staff
* Non-Manager duties may include, but are not limited to, project management and/or technical leadership
* Coordinate, develop and oversee appropriate interaction with the Portland Civil Engineering staff
* Represent the firm in the market through involvement in client and industry events and associations to promote intelligence gathering and pipeline development
* Develop new business leads
* Develop strategic alliances and project partners to secure new work
* Lead strategic project pursuits
* Participate in negotiations to secure contract awards
* Lead the growth and development of the civil engineering staff
* Provide project management responsibilities including oversight of project financial performance, adherence to project management and quality control plans, and adequacy of risk management plans
* Provide leadership in preparation of project deliverables, including PS&E documents, engineering reports, project memorandums, and others as required

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited program
* Fifteen (15) years of experience in the transportation industry, focusing on any of the following:
* Business Development
* Project Delivery
* Program/Project Management
* Alternative Delivery
* Five (5) years of managerial experience with increasing responsibility
* Demonstrated ability to lead and grow the civil engineering business
* Demonstrated ability to balance solid management/leadership skills
* Strongly established client relationships and industry contacts
* Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects
* Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work within a team environment
* Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
* Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Preferred Qualifications

* Master of Science in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited program
* Experience working with ODOT, TriMet, WSDOT, PBOT, Washington County and other local agencies
